Symptom:
When installing Geosoft Desktop Applications 8.5 on a computer running Windows 10 the first dialog presented is a solid white empty box with no content or buttons.
Resolution:
The problem seems to be a bug in the 8.5 Geosoft Desktop Application installer on computers running Windows 10 with high contrast turned on. The high contrast seems to conflict with some of the dialog boxes making text invisible. To get around the problem you need to adjust the contrast settings on the operating system using the following steps:
- Select Start and go to Settings
- Select Ease of Access
- Select High contrast
- To turn off high contrast mode, switch off the toggle under Turn on high contrast.
Once high contrast is turned on you should be able to run the installation. When the installation is complete you can switch high contrast back on. However, you may need to switch high contrast off again if you need to uninstall or change the installation.
