How to create a new projected coordinate system.

Objective:

I would like to add a custom coordinate system projection to be used with my grids, maps and databases.

Resolution:

A custom projection method can be created any time the software prompts the user to specify projection information.

1. In the Coordinate System dialog, select the Coordinate system as Projected X, Y
2. Expand the Projection Method by clicking on the double chevrons.
3. Click the New button to open the New Projection Method dialog
4. Give the new method a name, select a length unit, and select the Projection type
5. Fill out the parameters associated with the select projection type.   
6. Click OK

Once you've created a custom projection, this information will be saved and added to the list of available projections. 

Notes:

Custom projections will be prefixed with an asterisk in the Projection method list. eg *Namibian Survey Grid (N,E) zone 11 and *USGS(2) Transverse Mercator.
