Objective:
I have a Geosoft database (*.gdb) or a Geosoft grid (*.grd) that I would like to pick dipoles or calculate the "peak and trough".
Resolution:
There are two functions in the UXO extensions for picking dipoles:
If you are using UXO Marine, see either UXO Marine Grad or UXO-Marine Mag > Pick Targets:
- Find Magnetic Dipoles. (Uses a grid as the input file.)
- Pick Dipoles from profiles. (Uses a database as the input file.)
If you are using UXO Land, both are found by going to Parameter Determination > Target Selection
- Find Magnetic Dipoles (Uses a grid as the input file.)
- Pick Dipoles from profiles. (Uses a database as the input file.)
These will return a dipole amplitude (the peak to trough value), the dipole length (the distance between the peak and tough), and the inflection point. You can also use the Find Magnetic Dipoles (Grid) tool with the Total Field data after picking target location from the Analytical Signal data. This can be helpful when you have both monopole and dipole targets - the monopoles ones will have dummy values for dipole result channels. To edit the automatically picked dipole locations using Move Dipoles (UXO Marine Grad, Manage Target List or UXO Land, Target Selection).
