Objective:
I have a TIFF file, and I want to convert it to a Geosoft Grid (.GRD)
Resolution:
It isn't possible to convert a TIFF file directly into a Geosoft Grid file. However, it can be achieved by converting a TIFF file to a floating-point grid (.FLT) in ArcMap/ArcPRO, and then converting the FLT to a Grid in Oasis Montaj/Target standalone/Target for ArcMap.
To convert a TIFF to a FLT in ArcMap:
- Geoprocessing > ArcToolBox > Conversion Tools > From Raster > Raster to Float. OR Click anywhere in the working area > Ctrl + "F" > A Search window will open. Type "Raster to Float" in the searching area.
- Select the TIFF as Input file.
- Change the default path to your working folder > create a name for output file and click OK.
To convert a TIFF to a FLT in ArcPro:
- Analysis > Tools > Conversion Tools > From Raster > Raster to Float. OR type "Raster to float" on the searching area.
- Select the TIFF as Input file.
- Find your working folder > create a name for output file and click Run.
To convert the FLT to a Grid in Oasis Montaj or Target Standalone:
- Grid and Image > Utilities > Copy/Convert Grids.
- Input grid: Click on "..." and change the input file format to ArcView Binary Raster Grid (*.flt)
- Select the FLT file generated in the step above > Open
- Output grid: Give a name to your FTL grid file and click Ok.
To convert the FLT to a Grid in Target for ArcMap:
- Target Surface Toolbar > Copy/Convert Grids.
- Input grid: Click on "..." and change the input file format to ArcView Binary Raster Grid (*.flt)
- Select the FLT file generated in the step above > Open
- Output grid: Give a name to your FTL grid file and click Ok.
