Error: "COM Exception Code: 800a0e7a; Code Meaning: Unknown error 0x800A0E7A; Source: ADODB.Properties; Description: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed."

Occurrence:

I am on a 64-bit computer and have the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office installed.  When I try to import an Excel file (*.xlsx) to a database, this error is returned:

COM Exception Code: 800a0e7a; Code Meaning: Unknown error 0x800A0E7A; Source: ADODB.Properties; Description: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.
