Error 'Initializing GMSYS-2D Profile failed because assembly not found'.

Occurrence:

The following error occurs attempting to open an existing GM-SYS Profile Modelling project after installing or updated Oasis montaj. 

'Initializing GMSYS-2D Profile failed because assembly not found' occurs.

Resolution:

To resolve this, first note you must be logged into your machine as administrator, then follow these steps:

  1. Close Oasis montaj
  2. Go to the machines Control Panel > Programs and Features
  3. Select Geosoft Desktop Applications from the list > select 'Change'
  4. From the Change Installation window, select "Install Extensions"

At the end of the process open up Oasis montaj and see if GM-SYS is now available through Settings > Manage Menus.  Assuming it is, you should now be able to open your models without this error.

Root Cause

This error occurs when Oasis montaj was installed or updated with a Seequent ID that didn't have access to GM-SYS Profile Modelling at the time of installing or updating.
