Symptom:
When I am digitizing Geostrings and am using the 'Snapping' to Drillhole database feature, the snapping does not seem to identify the True XYZ location of the drillhole database.
Resolution:
There are a few things to check to ensure that you are able to snap to the true drillhole locations:
- Ensure that you are in layout view when digitizing your features.
- The ESRI snapping tool should enable when using the snapping tool, however if it does not, you can enable it by Snapping > Snapping Toolbar. You can then enable the mode of snapping (Point, end, Vertex, Edge)
- Ensure that your MXD is saved in the same file path as that of your Geodatabases. If the file paths differ, the snapping tool will likely struggle to find the locations of your geodatabase and therefor will not identify the true XYZ locations.
Root Cause:
The root causes can vary depending on the users project. Ensuring that your files are all stored in the same file path location and enabling the ESRI snapping tools are likely root causes.
Notes:
If you do try the above possible workflows and the snapping still does not locate the true XYZ locations, please reach out to your local Technical Support Representative by sending a support request to support@seequent.com
