Occurrence:
The following error message is returned when to launch my Geosoft application.
A connection with the Geosoft ID server could not be established.
This problem may occur if any of the following conditions are true:
1. Your computer is not connected to the internet
2. Your computer is protected by a firewall that is blocking access to the Geosoft ID server
3. The Geosoft ID server is down for maintenance
Verify your network connection and firewall, then try again.
Resolution:
The main cause for this error is likely due to an older instance of Geosoft Connect being installed on your computer. In 2020 we transitioned from Geosoft Connect to Seequent Connector.
Uninstall Geosoft Connect and install Seequent Connector:
- Use the Control Panel > Program and Features to uninstall Geosoft Connect.
- Downloading Seequent Connector from here: https://downloads.seequent.com/Geosoft/SeequentConnector.zip
- Install Seequent Connector by double-clicking the *.exe.
Delete the Geosoft Connect Folders:
- Open Windows Explorer
- Delete the following folders:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Geosoft\Geosoft Connect Settings
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Geosoft_Inc\Geosoft Connect
This error could also be triggered if your firewall / proxy server is blocking you from communicating with the Seequent servers. Have your IT department ensure that the following domains are whitelisted:
- api.seequent.systems
- id.seequent.systems
- identity-licensing.api.seequent.systems
- id.seequent.com
Root Cause
- You are running an older version of Geosoft Connect or Seequent Connector.
- Your computer is protected by a firewall that is blocking access to the Seequent server.
- The Geosoft Connect software on your computer has become corrupt or is out of date.
- The Seequent server is down for maintenance.
