Error: The Project ... was created with an old version of Leapfrog Geo. You need to open and upgrade the project using Leapfrog Geo 2.0 first.

Objective:

I have a project that was created before the release of Leapfrog Geo 2.0 and I would like to open it in a recent version of Leapfrog Geo, but I get an error.

Resolution:

If you have access to Leapfrog Geo 2.0:

  • Open the relevant project in Leapfrog Geo 2.0 and allow it to complete an upgrade to 2.0.
  • After that, the project will be compatible with later versions.

If you do not have access to Leapfrog Geo 2.0:

  • Please reach out to Seequent Support at support@seequent.com with the subjectline "Leapfrog Geo 2.0 upgrade"
  • We will request a zipped copy of the project and complete an upgrade on your behalf.
  • Please specify which version you are currently using (if you are only using 5.0.4, please specify that you would only like the project upgraded to 5.0.4). 

Root Cause: 

Projects prior to 2.0 are not natively upgradeable in newer versions of Leapfrog.

For example, a project from 1.8.1 cannot be directly upgraded to 6.0.5.
