Error: "Unable to run **\**\**\**\**\**.gs".

Occurrence:

The following error message is given when I attempt to edit my Geosoft script (*.gs) by pressing the Edit button in the Run Script dialog.

Unable to run **\**\**\**\**\**.gs

Resolution:

  1. Open the Script Dialog (Project > Scripting > Run Script).
  2. Ensure the Script field is empty and click the Edit Script button.
  3. In the Edit File using... dialog click the Editor button.
  4. Ensure that notepad.exe is selected.  If its not selected click the browse and locate it.  It may differ from PC to PC but you can typically located in C:\Windows
  5. Select the script and try again. 

Root Cause

For an unknown reason the script editor lost connection with Notepad.exe.
