Error: "Could not load file or assembly 'System.Net.Http.Formatting, Version-5.2.6.0, Culture=neutral. PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified".

Occurrence:

I get the following error message launching Oasis montaj / Target. 

Microsoft .NET Framework:
Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

Could not load file or assembly 'System.Net.Http.Formatting, Version-5.2.6.0, Culture=neutral. PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Resolution:

Download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8

  1. Close all open Seequent application.
  2. Go to https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework/net48
  3. Download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8
  4. Reboot the PC. 

Root Cause:

This error message indicates a problem with your version of Microsoft .NET Framework or Oasis montaj / Target ability to connect with Microsoft .NET Framework. Oasis montaj and Target leverage your operating system's Microsoft .NET Framework to run specific functions.  

Notes:

The version of .NET Framework required to run your Seequent application may change depending on version. In most situation installing the most recent version of Microsoft .NET Framework should work. But if you run into problems please contact Seequent Support at support@seequent.com.
